Hajj
One of the most important things to do once one has decided to go on hajj is to speak with other individuals who have already performed the Hajj. Ideally to someone whose circumstances resemble yours. (e.g. woman to woman, elderly to elderly, young male to young male, recent hajis, etc.) It is also very important to get a good Hajj tour group/expert and responsible guide with you. This could make a huge difference to your experience. (If you are in the USA, one hajj group you can check out is darelsalam . While you can shorten your trip before 8th Dhul Hijja you may enjoy yourself in a more relaxed way if you do not leave before late 14th Dhul Hijja.)

If your Hajj involves a trip to Madinah remember the following two hadith:
On the authority of Sahl bin Haneef it is reported the Prophet said:
"One who does wudu at home, then goes to the Quba Mosque and offers prayers in it, will attain the reward of Umrah." (Ahmad, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah and Hakim)
The Prophet said: "Praying once in this mosque of mine is one thousand times better than prayer in other mosques except Masjid al- Haram ." (Sahih Muslim 007.3210)
