Sahih Muslim, Book 001, Number 0151:
" It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud that he
observed. I asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace be
upon him) which deed was the best. He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Prayer
at its appointed hour. I (again) said: Then
what? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Kindness to the parents. …"

Prayer Timer 4.0
Prayer Times 4.0 is available as "trialware" from Islamsoft
(It costs $24.95 to register it.) It is a very good program that once
installed on your computer will call the recorded adhan (of Haram-Makkah(Mulla) or Medina(Bukhary), for example) at your local 5 prayer
times. The times change automatically everyday, once you have told your
computer the city or longitude/latitude you reside, and the prayer time
convention that is followed in your area. You can also print out monthly
prayer calendars.
Casio Watch
Since one is not always at one’s computer, one can supplement this
arrangement by getting a Casio Prayer watch (module # 1044 1244)
which works on the same principles. The watch also has a bearing sensor
to determine qiblah. (For those don’t wish to spend the money on the
watch for qiblah, try attaching a compass to your (cloth-type) watch
strap. Available from camping stores).
Prayer Schedules
If you are setting up a prayer schedule or just trying to understand prayer schedules (e.g. why do different prayer schedules have different times, etc.) a good starting point is this prayer schedule explanation. Alternatively, try this
(Note: For Prayer times at very northern or southern latitudes see the question below.)
Salatbase
Also for prayers is a CD-ROM by Sound
Vision. Salatbase, is
particularly useful for a new revert or a child, Salatbase is filled with
interactive videos on wudhu and salat. The videos are also accompanied by
translation scripts to help non-Arabs understand what they are reciting.
There are also sections on Eid prayers, salat-al-Janaza (Funeral prayers)
and Qasr prayers (prayers while travelling) useful. For example, there is
fiqh relating to the period of Qasr Prayers and hadith relating to
combining Qasr Prayers.

What about prayer times at very northern or southern latitudes specially during certain seasons? See the following article at the Jordanian Astronomical Society for one view. The dajjal hadith referred to in the article is from Sahih Muslim. " We said: Allah's Messenger, how long would he stay on the earth? He said.. For forty days, one day like a year and one day like a month and one day like a week and the rest of the days would be like your days. We said: Allah's Messenger, would one day's prayer suffice for the prayers of day equal to one year? Thereupon he said: No, but you must make an estimate of time (and then observe prayer). " This principal allows use of the 4 methods mentioned in the article during "unusual" days for prayer calculation.
Riyadh-us-Saleheen
1081. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The first of man's deeds for which he will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection will be Salat. If it is found to be perfect, he will be safe and successful; but if it is incomplete, he will be unfortunate and a loser. If any shortcoming is found in the obligatory Salat, the Glorious and Exalted Rabb will command to see whether His slave has offered any voluntary Salat so that the obligatory Salat may be made up by it. Then the rest of his actions will be treated in the same manner.''
